Hi,
I am writing from Triest, Italy. I cannot find my dictionary right now to help myself with German language, I hope you can understand and help me, no problem write me auf Deutsch, I can understand well.
I have three couples of Chins: one of them has one 30 days old baby, another has two 15 days old babies, the last one gave birth for the first time to a little female four days ago. The mother was very sweet with it at the beginning, but during the night something happened and I found the partner shocked and enjured with a lot of bites and the baby had several bites too(on top of the tail, two fingers of one hand missing, one finger of one foot).I thought that the male might have tried to cover the female, and she got furious.
I kept one close eye on them all over the day, all were very quiet, the male did not move from his corner. During the night there was another attack...this time it was horrible: the baby had half foot hanging away, and after talking with my vet for exotics (250 km from my place) I cut the hanging part of the foot away and removed the male from the cage.
The next two days anything was quiet, but tonight i found the baby with a badly enjured and swallen arm and hand. I removed it from the mother, and now I have to handfeed it.
First I took out of her cage the female who has two 15 days old babies and tried to have the baby suck milk from her, but she didn't. I am too afraid to put her into the other couple's cage.
I do not have any goat milk or milk for kittens at home so I crashed some pellets, special for babies, the breeder gave me when I bought my chins (they were in the fridge, no idea what they are made of exactly)) and prepared sort of a warm liquid that I gave to the poor little one.
In case I have to handfeed it, I ask you if I can avoid feeding her for 5 hours during the night....I do not think that I can wake up every two hours for a very long period without having serious problems, as I am very tired and busy in this period.
Any chance to make the other couple accept the baby?
Why do you think this mother enjured her own baby? I do not think she has little milk, as she is huge and very well fed, and the baby was growing nicely.
Please give me your opinion and suggestions!!!!
